The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah - Book Review

Description From The Book: With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion, and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love and freedom in German - occupied, war- torn France--a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Southern Mama's Bookshelf Review: This is my 3rd Kristin Hannah book that I've read so far and I must say she is my favorite author. Her books just make you feel like you are actually there with the characters of the book. I'm a big history person. Growing up History was my favorite subject so I knew reading this book would be my favorite. I know we have all pretty much learned about the Holocaust in school. But I've never learned it from this point of view. The book has you reading and learning about the Jewish people of France. Showing what they went through during this time period. Even though the two main characters aren't Jewish you still get to experience their tragedy as well. Realizing even people who weren't Jewish suffered or were even killed as well. I love who Kristin Hannah respected this time period. Even though her characters are fiction, these events were not. I 100 percent recommended this book to be placed on you TBR if you haven't already.
