The Perfect Girl - Book Review
Book Description: Zoe Maisey is a seventeen year old musical prodigy with a genius IQ. Three years ago, she was involved in a tragic incident that left three classmates dead. She served her time, and now her mother, Maria, has resolved to keep that devastating fact ticked far away from their new beginning, hiding the past even from her new husband and demanding that Zoe do the same.
Tonight Zoe is giving a recital that Maria has been planning for months. It needs to be the performance of Zoe's life. But instead, by the end of the evening, Maria is dead.
In the aftermath, everyone the police, family, Zoe's former solicitor, and Zoe herself - tries to piece together what happened. But as Zoe knows all too well, the truth is rarely straightforward, and the closer we are to someone, the less we may see.
Southern Mama's Bookshelf Review: It has been almost a year since I've read a mystery book. Perfect Girl was the perfect book to get back into reading mysteries. I love reading this book because the chapters are short. Yes I'm a person who prefers short chapters. But it is a thick book. I normally don't like books that constantly have flashbacks but Gilly wrote an amazing job which included flashbacks from Zoe's past. So many times, I get confused trying to put the story together but you don't have to do this with a Perfect Girl. I really thought the person who murdered Maria was going to be predictable but I was totally wrong. I highly recommend this book especially if you want a quick read.
