The Fowler Sisters Series (Review)
It doesn't matter what book series I read the Fowler Sisters Series by Monica Murphy will always be my favorite. I have read the entire series numerous times and it just seems to get better and better. When I first found out about this series I had all read Stealing Rose. After reading all three books I then went back and read them in order. To sum the entire series up it's about three sisters who are apart of their family company's Fleur Cosmetics which was started by their grandmother. Each book takes you through their journey with the company, as the endure the ups and downs of being apart of a business that is filled with lies, stealing, betrayal. And of course it wouldn't be Monica Murphy if she didn't include some hot and steamy scenes.
Book 1: Owning Violet
Description from the Book: I've moved through life doing what's expected of me. i'm the middle daughter, the dutiful daughter. The one who braved a vicious attack and survived. The one who devoted herself to her family's business empire. The one who met an ambitious man and fell in love. We are going to run Fleur Cosmetics together, Zachary and I.
Until he got a promotion and left me in the dust. Maybe it's for the best., between his disloyalty and his wandering eye. But another man was waiting for me. Wanting me. He too has an overwhelming thirst for success, just like Zachary; perhaps ever more so. He's also ruthless. And mysterious. I know nothing about Ryder McKay beyond that he makes me feel things I've never felt before. One stolen moment, kiss, a touch...and I'm hooked. Ryder's like a powerful drug, and I'm an addict who doesn't want to be cured. He tells me his intentions aren't pure, and i believe him. For once; I don't care. I'm willing to risk everything just to be with him. Including my heart and soul. My everything.
Butterfly Review:
Violet is very dedicated to her family's business. She wants to keep the family business that her grandmother worked so hard to build but of course that comes with drama. Violet finds herself falling for Ryder Mckay not knowing he has a plan of his own with her family's business. But it wouldn't be Monica Murphy if she did create an amazing hot steamy but not so trusting relationship between the two. I don't know but this book made me not trust anyone in this book. Violet and Zachary both had a passion for Fleur Cosmetics but Zachary seemed to have other plans with the business. Once he left after getting his promotion Violet realized that it was first the best. She couldn't ever trust him. Everywhere they went he had is eye on another woman. But in my opinion the only thing that was on his mind was getting that promotion. Once he left Violet was determined to focus on what was best for her until Ryder McKay showed up. I really don't want to go into much more detail because I love when people can have the shock factor of wondering what's going to happen next. I know for me that's what makes reading books more fun.
Book 2: Stealing Rose ( my favorite one)
Description From the book: People say the youngest child has it easy, but nothing can be further from the truth. Unlike my two sisters, Violet and Lily, I'm never in the limelight. I just work my butt off for Fleur Cosmetics and get little to no thanks for it. I've been pushed too far one too many times and finally brave enough to do something about it. Maybe my newfound courage has something to do with the amazing pink and white diamond necklace I wear to the party on Cannes. The instant those dazzling heirloom jewels touch my skin, they excite some deep, aching need inside. And when that guy that -totally gorgeous guy locks eyes with me, I know this nice girl is going to be naughty. For once it's my turn. My turn to say no to my father, to outshine my sisters, to walk away from it all- straight into the arms of a mysterious stranger. But what if Caden is much more than I bargained for? Sure, he makes me feel sexy and free in a way I never have before but there's something else I can't quite place something dangerous. Maybe our "chance" meeting wasn't so random. Maybe he was looking for me for a reason. Whatever his motive, there's no going back now. And maybe I don't want to.
Butterfly Review: I know we all know someone or we are that one person who literally does everything and gets absolutely no credit for it. Not even a simple thank you. That is what happened to Rose in this book. Rose also works with her family (Fleur Cosmetics) doing her part to keep her family's business (that was started by her grandmother) successful. But it wouldn't be a Fowler's sisters series if drama didn't follow. That's where Caden comes in. He has one thing on his mind ( don't be dirty) and falling for Rose Fowler is not one of them. Yes there are plenty of hot and steamy moments. It wouldn't be Monica Murphy if it wasn't.
The sad part of the book is when Rose thought love had finally come to her door. She thought for once happiness was meant for her. But when lies and broken trust come about of course she feels like her world is falling apart especially when something will change her life forever.
Book 3: Taming Lily
Description From the book: I'm in trouble. Again. And instead of facing my problems head-on I've run away. Far away this time, and no one can catch me-not my two younger sisters, Violet and Rose, not my father, my grandmother, or that witch Pilar who wants to take control of my family's cosmetics company. Now I'm in Hawaii, enjoying the sun and sand and water, where nobody knows the hot mess known as Lily Fowler. And I'm loving every minute of it.
But someone is watching me. Following me. He is gorgeous. Soon we're talking and against all my instincts, I reveal bits and pieces of myself to Max. It feels good, though I know he can't be the man for me. These sudden feelings we share are way too complicated, too fraught, too intense.
Then everything explodes and I'm forced to return home. My intentions have always been true, but now everyone's mad at me. I don't know who to turn to anymore...except to Max. He's the one I want to trust. But I'm not so sure I should. Maybe it's worth the risk-what -ifs be damned...
Butterfly Review: Lily is totally opposite of her younger sisters. When a problem arises she rather runs that deal with it. If you have read the other two books at this point you kind of know how these sisters fall in love and that's with drama attached to it. But for Lily she rather just ran away. For away where no one can find her and make her solve the problems that she has. But guess what...Lily is a part of the Fowler business and she can't hide. No matter what drama and will find her.
This book was my least favorite and I think it's because Stealing Rose was my favorite and I really thought Taming Lily was going to be just as good. Don't get me wrong it was a good story. This book answers a lot of questions that you will have reading the entire series.
